We’ve received a lot of rain in the last several days, and the forecast predicts more. We headed to the park, where unhoused individuals were camping. As we were pulling a wagon filled with supplies, two people were in a tent hidden in the bushes. The woman hurried out, telling us that the man was unwell and asking if we had any food. We prayed with her, encouraged her, and happened to have two meals in the wagon ready to give them. The Lord is a provider.
As we continued, another woman in her late sixties approached us. She informed us she was just released from the hospital and had taken the bus to the park. After hearing her narrative, we began talking about Jesus. She explained that as a child and young lady, she was faithfully active in her church family and had been involved in missions, and she would evangelize just like us. She spoke of this moment with considerable enthusiasm. We informed her that God had reminded her today that he was with her and that even though her circumstances weren’t ideal, she could still tell people about the Lord. We gave her a small bible and a pair of reading glasses. She said, “These really help me see, again, the Lord provides.” We remembered we had two raincoats on the mobile mission. The Lord sent two raincoats: one for her and one for her companion. Please pray for Laurie, that her family will accept her, and that she will humble herself and get help.
